Rural Electrification Rural areas are cut off from a stream of socio-economic development initiatives by the on-going lack of electricity supply. No meaningful development is able to take place in absence of electricity supply and other basic services such as sanitation and water supply.
The majority of Namibia’s population reside in rural areas. The lack of development and thus scares employment opportunities in rural areas is the main drive for rural to urban migrations. Many people especially from rural areas migrate to urban areas in search of better employment prospects. This put a lot of pressure on urban areas as services provision is not keeping up with the influx of people.
It is evident that turning a blind eye on developing rural areas creates problems for urban areas. It is therefore important to uplift development in rural areas. But to do this, the first step is the provision of basic services. At MK group, we dedicate ourselves to the production and supply of electricity to rural areas. We will achieve this through generating electricity from renewable energy sources.
It is the vision of our group of companies that in a near future, a rural child will be able to sit in front of a computer, watch television or engage on internet based learning just like the urban child. It is our vision that in a near future, a rural youth will look not beyond his region in pursuit of employment. It is further the vision of our group of companies that all parts of Namibia; rural or urban should equally contribute to the economy and wellbeing of our nation.
